These mats would be laid out to provide accessible routes to playground equipment and swings. DALTON, Mass. — The Cable Advisory Commission continued its efforts in negotiating a new contract with Charter Communications during its meeting on Monday evening. During the meeting, the commissioners spoke to attorney William Solomon over the phone, during which they reiterated some of their priorities during the negotiation process. These priorities include adding to the contract a 5 percent gross revenue, capital funds, funding for fiber optic cables to enhance connections, and updated equipment needed to handle this upgrade. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The city's community health worker has one year left of funding through the American Rescue Plan Act and department leaders want to ensure the position's longevity.
At its first meeting of the year on Wednesday, the Board of Health supported including the position in the line item budget. The community health post, which started in 2022, is funded through calendar year 2024 through ARPA.
"That doesn't mean we have to apply for additional funding," Dr. Jeffrey Leppo said. "But I would hate to be in a situation where we are in the middle of [fiscal year 2025] and we don't have any more funds for this."

BOSTON — The Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities (DPU) issued an order today opening an inquiry to examine measures to address the high cost of energy bills experienced by many Massachusetts residents. This inquiry (DPU docket # 24-15) will allow the DPU to consider improvements to current energy affordability programs to reduce the energy burden that impacts residential ratepayers. DALTON, Mass. — The Select Board questioned the value the proposed preliminary designs of Dalton Division Road have for residents during its December meeting. Steve Savaria, project manager and senior traffic engineer at Fuss & O'Neil, presented some preliminary concepts for the redesign of the roadway and intersection. The New England engineering firm has been retained as the town's design consultant for this project.
