On Friday, Dec. 22, CMRK will pick up designated household items at your curb for free. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The nurses and healthcare professionals of the Berkshire Visiting Nurse Association (BVNA), represented by the Massachusetts Nurses Association (MNA), reached a tentative agreement on Dec. 15 with Berkshire Health Systems, agreeing on contract terms that give BVNA clinicians a wage step scale and tackle some productivity issues to help with recruitment and retention and address patient care access problems. The agreement is tentative until BVNA clinicians represented by the MNA can review the terms this week. A vote to ratify the contract is scheduled for Dec. 22. DALTON, Mass. — Town Hall is down a lift because of safety concerns with the current one in the police station, the Americans with Disabilities Act Committee announced during its meeting on Monday night. The Town Hall has two chairlifts, one in the police station and one in the public library. The Town Planner, Health Agent, Building Inspector offices are inaccessible to those who need a chairlift because the library chairlift does not have access to them. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The City of Pittsfield is seeking public input as part of an analysis focusing on fair housing, discriminatory housing policies and practices required by the federal Fair Housing Act. This analysis will identify local concerns and guide the City on how to allocate federal funds to improve economic equity and growth in the community. A public comment period is now open through Jan. 16, 2024 seeking input regarding barriers to access to housing, public services, employment, transportation, and education based on race, age, income, or disability.  DALTON, Mass. — The town is a step closer to having two electric vehicle charging stations at the Community Recreation Association. There are two EV ports per station. The committee submitted a signed contract to the state so the town is ready to have work begin this month, Green Committee member Antonio Pagliarulo said a recent meeting. The engineer will visit the CRA to explore how to extract power from the upcoming station location. The station is expected to be completed in six months. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The inaugural Alumni Music Fest at Berkshire Community College (BCC), held in late November drew more than 250 attendees and raised $3,000 for the Eleanore Velez Scholarship. The scholarship supports students who are ineligible for federal aid due to their citizenship status. Such students include those who are undocumented, immigrants, refugees, or hold J-1 visas for exchange visitors. Map of the three parcels from Joe Durwin's report. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The so-called Saw Mill property has a new name that honors its origins as a family farm.
On Thursday, the Conservation Commission voted to rename the more than 50-acre parcel "Cadwell's Woods Conservation Area." The property dates back to the Cadwell family years before Pittsfield was founded and remained with them for 175 years.
In the early 1900s, it was referred to as the "Cadwell's Woods."
Last year, the city acquired the conservation land along the southwest branch of the Housatonic River to permanently protect it from development. It can be used for

 PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Disabled American Veterans (DAV) will be receiving more than $76,000 from a Price Chopper/Market 32 fundraising campaign to provide lifetime support to veterans and their families. Price Chopper/Market 32 kicked off the fundraiser with a $10,000 donation and, combined with customer donations, raised $76,471 to go directly to DAV.
