PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Animal Control Commission deemed two dogs as nuisances on Wednesday and placed sanctions on them.
Adam Street resident Debra Laframboise brought her neighbor Jarvis Chadwell's two bully mixes to the commission for being off-leash and reportedly defecating on her property and growling at her.
Montanna, a 3-year-old pitbull mix, and Opie, a 2-year-old American bulldog, must be humanely restrained when off their property, be licensed, and their owners are ordered to find a solution to a damaged fence on their property.

BOSTON – The Federal Emergency Management Agency will be sending more than $5.6 million to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to reimburse it for the cost of overtime paid to state health employees engaged in critical functions during the COVID-19 pandemic. The $5,651,435 Public Assistance grant will reimburse the Massachusetts Department of Public Health for the cost of having a total of 974 staff work overtime to manage the response to the pandemic between March and September 2020. The Nostalgia Soiree on Friday kicks off the return of the decades-old celebration with trees decorated by community members, businesses, and institutions with ties to the community. The Festival of Trees will be at the museum from Nov. 18 to Jan. 7.

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — City councilors would like to see a solution for a residential street causing grief after being narrowed. On Tuesday, the panel sent a petition from Ward 2 Councilor Charles Kronick requesting to appropriate free cash for road repairs on California Avenue to Mayor Linda Tyer. After the road was regraded and narrowed, the Department of Public Works attempted to correct drainage issues by raising the driveways by as much as two inches, Kronick said, which created a lip at the road that is a legal liability.  LANESBOROUGH, Mass. — First responders are concerned about a hole in the outside lane of the ring road surrounding the shuttered Berkshire Mall and have asked for a solution.
The crater near the former Best Buy has expanded to about the size of a loader's bucket and is coned off but traffic can still pass by.
"We're not only looking out for the safety of the residents but actually the mall owner from a liability standpoint," Police Chief Robert Derksen said. "We're trying to protect them as well because if there is a tragedy they're going to be liable for something like that."
