Dalton Special Town Meeting Set for Dec. 13By Sabrina Damms, iBerkshires Staff

DALTON, Mass. — The Select Board has set a special town meeting for Wednesday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m. at the Wahconah Regional High School to vote on adding an additional $25,000 to the police detail fund. The police detail fund is a revolving account that is currently paid up to $25,000 but is drained when a large number of details happen. It stays drained until it is replenished by payments from the private entities that hire the details. When the fund is substantially drained, the payment schedule for officers who work details is unpredictable, Police Chief Deanna Strout has said. Dalton Traffic Commission Urges Need For Traffic Study By Sabrina Damms, iBerkshires Staff

 DALTON, Mass. — The Traffic Commission wrote a letter to the Select Board urging for a traffic study to ensure safe traffic control during elections now that the polling station is at the Senior Center. The concern was raised by Traffic Commission Chair William Drosehn during its meeting last week. Now that the decision has been made, the commission needs to weigh in and look into how to make the roads safer during elections, he said. The Select Board voted to relocate the polling station from the Community Recreation Association to the Senior Center in August, going against the ad hoc committee's suggestion. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Three different avenues are being considered to fund the estimated $30 million restoration of historic Wahconah Park and a feasibility study has gone to the mayor.
While planners hope that grants and donations fund as much as possible, they are also looking into borrowing an amount that the tax levy could handle but have not yet determined the burden on taxpayers.
"Looking at the survey results and people I’ve spoken to, people want this," Chair Earl Persip III said to the Wahconah Park Restoration Committee on Thursday.

 PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Berkshire Community College hopes to have a majority of its multimillion dollar campus improvements completed by the end of the month.
Students and staff may have noticed various construction areas at BCC over the last year. These include upgrades to the Boland Theater lobby, exterior pavers, the quad, windows, electrical switchgear, and underground infrastructure such as sanitary and stormwater drainage lines.

Robert Mercurio served his country in the Navy as a radioman, first class, from 1942 to 1946. He would also serve four years in the Reserves, being discharged in 1950.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Carr Hardware celebrated 95 years during their Carr-nniversary Weekend in September and with assistance from their loyal customers, was able to raise $7,232, which will be donated to the Berkshire Humane Society today. Over the Weekend, Carr Hardware hosted a bucket sale that allowed customers to purchase a bucket that they could then fill with discounted products.
