Berkshire Family YMCA Seeks New CEO | 10:14AM / Wednesday, November 08, 2023 | |
PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Jessica Rumlow will be leaving the Berkshire Family YMCA (BFYMCA) at the end of the year to work for the Alliance of Massachusetts YMCAs as the Chief Operations Officer. Rumlow has worked for the BFYMCA for 10 years and was appointed to the CEO position in 2019. During her tenure at the BFYMCA she supported its expansion of services into Bennington, Vt.., and lead the organization through COVID, but her biggest accomplishment was completing the $12.4M renovation project of the historic Pittsfield Branch. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Berkshire Regional Transit Authority (BRTA) announced that beginning Nov. 24, 2023, through Dec. 31, 2023, all BRTA bus and ADA complementary services will be free. This is supported by a grant included in the state budget and awarded by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation. The "Try Transit" initiative will be supported by the state grant that was awarded to fourteen of the Commonwealth's Regional Transit Authorities who worked together to submit a joint application and implementation plan.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Hancock Shaker Village announces its annual Community Day will take place on Sunday, Nov. 11 from 11 am to 4 pm. Admission is free all day. Twelve years after his first run for mayor, Marchetti took the corner office winning every precinct and ward in the city over opponent John Krol. He will be the second mayor to serve a four-year term, succeeding Linda Tyer. Unofficial numbers had Marchetti besting Krol by 5,807 to 3,486, a 2,321-vote difference. Plenty of room to vote at Capeless Elementary School during a slowdown earlier Tuesday. The city was at about a 16 percent turnout with five more hours of voting to go. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Voters are getting to the polls to elect the City Council, School Committee, city clerk, and a new mayor. There were 6,050 votes cast more than halfway through the day, which is a 19.64 percent turnout. Numbers have already surpassed September's preliminary election, which had about 16 percent turnout. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The city's annual city road cut moratorium will be in effect from Nov. 24, 2023 to March 15, 2024. The road cut moratorium is implemented annually, as a precautionary measure, to ensure roads are kept clear of construction work during snow events and to limit the cuts in roads that are filled with temporary patches while material is unavailable. DALTON, Mass. — The Select Board voted last week to change the administrative services of the town's police detail fund to the police chief during its meeting on Monday night. With this management change, the department is authorized to manage the fund based on the specific circumstances surrounding the amount.
