BOSTON — The Healey-Driscoll Administration announced that Massachusetts agencies have requested clean energy investments for up to 78,500 low-income and affordable homes from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, the largest single emissions reduction initiative in United States history. A coalition led by the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER), and including the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC), MassHousing, and Boston Housing Authority, submitted the state's application to the Solar for All competition for $250 million. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Baseball now has a birthday in the city of Pittsfield.
On Tuesday, the City Council unanimously voted to recognize Sept. 5 as the official birthday of baseball. The effort was led by Ward 5 Councilor Patrick Kavey and baseball enthusiast Phil Massery.
Kavey thanked Mayor Linda Tyer for supporting the effort. She submitted a resolution for the council's approval at the meeting.
"We look forward to working with you over the next couple of months and the incoming mayor to really make the next fifth of September something something really awesome and something we can all be proud of with with our history of baseball," he said.

Parking bans are put into place to keep streets clear for plowing and emergency vehicle access during snow events. This list will be updated as more municipalities announce their parking bans. Third-quarter Gross Domestic Product grew at an annualized pace of 4.9 percent blowing away economists' expectations of a 4.5 percent growth rate. The resilient U.S. consumer continued to spend, which has boosted growth, defying those who have been expecting the economy to slow down under the weight of 18 months of interest rate hikes. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The 2-year-old union local representing some members of the Berkshire Visiting Nursing Association continues to push for fair productivity standards and pay to preserve employees and quality of care. The union reported that the BVNA, which is owned and operated by Berkshire Health Systems, has lost almost 30 permanent staff members since 2021, 90 percent citing an unsustainable work-life balance and many leaving for higher pay. On Tuesday, Ricardo Morales was recognized in council chambers for receiving the Massachusetts Black and Latino Legislative Caucus Latino Excellence Award commemorating Hispanic History Month. The award highlights the heritage and work of Latino leaders, agents of impact, and change-makers who make contributions in legislative districts.
