BCC Expresses Gratitude over Passage of State Budget

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Berkshire Community College celebrated the passage of the state's $56.2 billion budget, which includes several programs designed to increase access to education for all residents.   Berkshire Community College (BCC), the first community college established in the Commonwealth and now one of 15 across the state, will directly benefit from the funding directed to these programs.    Of importance is a change to the Commonwealth's General Laws that allows undocumented students living in Massachusetts to pay in-state tuition and fees. The Tuition Equity Bill stipulates that such undocumented students must have attended high school in Massachusetts

Q&A with the CEO event at Berkshire Palate

Berkshire County Regional Housing Authority Eyeing Rename

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Berkshire County Regional Housing Authority wants a new name to better clarify its range of services to the community.

On Wednesday at its Fenn Street offices, the organization's board approved the hiring of a firm to take the lead on its rebranding.

Executive Director Brad Gordon said the authority is highly regarded statewide and in the community but many times, there is confusion over who is administering the services it connects people with.

This, he explained, is a disservice to its mission of making certain that consumers are connected in a meaningful way and have access to a wide range of programming that the authority provides.

Behavioral Health Network Receives State Grant

BOSTON — Behavioral Health Network, Inc., which services communities in Berkshire County, received a $772,706 grant to support mental health among young children.   The Healey-Driscoll Administration announced that they are awarding $4.1 million in Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation Grants to organizations that support the social-emotional development and behavioral health of children in early education and care programs across Massachusetts.   This funding will go to six organizations that serve early education programs by training providers and improving program processes to promote the developmental, social-emotional, and behavioral well-being of infants and young

Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall is Coming to the Dalton

DALTON, Mass. — The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall is visiting the American Legion from Friday, Sept. 15 through the 17th.    The wall, also referred to as "The Healing Wall," honors the fallen military personnel of the Vietnam War and acts as a reminder of the sacrifices they made.    The names of 58,311 casualties are listed on the 6-foot-tall wall that spans 300 feet.    For many, traveling to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., is not possible. Pittsfield Ward Candidates Talk Police, Blight, Charter Objections

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Candidates for Ward 2 and 7 weighed in on topics ranging from policing to charter objections on Tuesday during a series of debates hosted by Pittsfield Community Television and iBerkshires.


Brittany Bandani and Alexander Blumin prepare to debate on Tuesday; a third Ward 2 candidate, Soncere Williams, was unable to attend.

The Ward 2 debate featured Brittany Bandani and Alexander Blumin and the Ward 7 debate incumbent Anthony Maffuccio and challenger Rhonda Serre. Soncere Williams is also running for Ward 2 and Jonathan Morey is running for Ward 7 but neither was able to attend Tuesday's debates at the Berkshire Athenaeum.
