Pittsfield names 'Cadwell Woods Conservation Area'By Brittany Polito, iBerkshires Staff

Map of the three parcels from Joe Durwin's report. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The so-called Saw Mill property has a new name that honors its origins as a family farm.
On Thursday, the Conservation Commission voted to rename the more than 50-acre parcel "Cadwell's Woods Conservation Area." The property dates back to the Cadwell family years before Pittsfield was founded and remained with them for 175 years.
In the early 1900s, it was referred to as the "Cadwell's Woods."
Last year, the city acquired the conservation land along the southwest branch of the Housatonic River to permanently protect it from development. It can be used for

 PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Disabled American Veterans (DAV) will be receiving more than $76,000 from a Price Chopper/Market 32 fundraising campaign to provide lifetime support to veterans and their families.  PITTSFIELD, Mass.—Community members gathered at the Polish Falcon Club last week to hear the proposed plans for the Bel Air Dam Removal. The two-century-old dam has been an area of concern for over a decade due to its deterioration and contamination. AECOM Associate Vice President and Project Manager Jennifer Doyle-Breen said if the structure collapses it could mean trouble downstream, creating hazardous conditions.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. — For the first time since the pandemic, Mildred Elley held an in-person Pinning Celebration at the Italian American Club on Thursday for the graduates of the Practical Nursing Program. The school graduated 27 from the 18 month Practical Nursing Program, however, only three were able to attend the celebration. CHESHIRE, Mass. — A Pittsfield teenager is facing multiple charges including driving under the influence after crashing her car into the State Police barracks. According to State Police, the 17-year-old was traveling southbound on Route 8 at about 6:22 p.m. on Saturday when her 2000 Nissan Altima left the road and struck the east front corner of Cheshire barracks.
