BOSTON – NRG Energy, one of the leading energy suppliers and home services companies in Massachusetts, has announced a donation of $10,000 to the recently created Massachusetts Farm Resiliency Fund. The fund, which was launched to support central and Western Massachusetts farms damaged by last month's historic flooding, also aims to strengthen regional farm resiliency. The fund is administered by United Way of Central Massachusetts and supported by the Healey-Driscoll administration as well as private foundations and philanthropic organizations.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Local artist Cara Petricca will paint an original mural this week on the north-facing side of 348 North St. (the alleyway facing St. Joseph's Church). Part of the Let It Shine! Public Art Partnership, the mural is funded by a MassDevelopment Transformative Development Initiative (TDI) Creative Catalyst Grant. This mural and four others will be recognized on Saturday, Sept. 9, at the "Let It Shine! A Celebration of Public Art" event. DALTON, Mass. — The Select Board last week determined that two dogs housed at 109 Elmore Drive are a nuisance. The order requires owner Marisa Washburn to humanely restrain both her pug and Yorkshire terrier whenever they are outside of the home. Washburn, who attended the meeting, was issued two separate citations for not restraining her dogs but has not yet paid them. She was told to meet with the town clerk to set up a way to pay the fines.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. — After years of anticipation, the Holmes Road bridge is on schedule for a Friday reopening.
Earlier this month, the city reported that the contractor has been actively working on-site to ensure that this deadline is met. Bridge deck waterproofing was installed on Aug. 14 and paving followed.
Currently, pavement can be seen on the structure.
"We understand the inconveniences this DOT project has caused and deeply appreciate your patience during this work," an update on the city website reads.
The bridge was reduced to one lane for four years after being found structurally insufficient and in need of a $3.5 million replacement of the overpass structure.

DALTON, Mass. — The Planning Board tentatively approved Citizens Energy's request for administrative approval of a "minor" change to the site plan during its meeting on Wednesday. To support the Warren Landfill solar project, Citizens Energy is interested in installing utility poles along the access road to interconnect the project to the electrical grid. Since the access road is public property, the board requested that the organization obtain written approval from the town attorney, the police chief, fire chief, and highway department. WASHINGTON — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the availability of nearly $50 million in regular funding through the Sewer Overflow and Stormwater Reuse Municipal Grant program to help communities address stormwater and sewer infrastructure needs.
