Plenty of room to vote at Capeless Elementary School during a slowdown earlier Tuesday. The city was at about a 16 percent turnout with five more hours of voting to go. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Voters are getting to the polls to elect the City Council, School Committee, city clerk, and a new mayor. There were 6,050 votes cast more than halfway through the day, which is a 19.64 percent turnout. Numbers have already surpassed September's preliminary election, which had about 16 percent turnout. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The city's annual city road cut moratorium will be in effect from Nov. 24, 2023 to March 15, 2024. The road cut moratorium is implemented annually, as a precautionary measure, to ensure roads are kept clear of construction work during snow events and to limit the cuts in roads that are filled with temporary patches while material is unavailable. During this period, steel plates are not to be used to cover open excavations in roads. DALTON, Mass. — The Select Board voted last week to change the administrative services of the town's police detail fund to the police chief during its meeting on Monday night. With this management change, the department is authorized to manage the fund based on the specific circumstances surrounding the amount. When the fund is substantially drained, the payment schedule for officers who work details is unpredictable, Police Chief Deanna Strout said during a follow-up conversation. Teddy's Pizza Restaurant on East Street has been purchased by Mike Manning, who is continuing its 50-year legacy as the long-loved pizzeria and family restaurant everyone knows.
"I grew up eating lunch here while at Pittsfield High and that's kind of like a generational thing," he explained. "Everybody comes here, and here we are and we decided to give it a go."

Earl Persip poses with frequent council attendee Ricky Ostellino. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — One incumbent was ousted in the City Council election and there will be multiple new faces on the council come January.
Many councilors-elect are excited about the slate that was voted in on Tuesday night. Unofficial results show a 31.11 percent turnout, compared to the 2019 election's 42.4 percent turnout.
A number of them attended Mayor-elect Peter Marchetti's party at the Berkshire Hills County Club.
Rhonda Serre secured representation of Ward 7 with 674 votes, unseating incumbent Anthony Maffuccio who had 430 votes.

 PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Voters will elect a mayor, city clerk, City Council, and School Committee tomorrow.
Polls are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and there are races in all but three wards — Wards 1, 4 and 5 — and School Committee. There is also one non-binding ballot question asking if there should be a residency requirement for the police chief, fire chief, and public services manager.
Peter Marchetti, the current City Council president, and John Krol, a former councilor, are running to replace Mayor Linda Tyer in the corner office.
