 PITTSFIELD, Mass.— After a three-year hiatus from in-person celebrations, the Saint Joseph Polish Picnic is back this Sunday. From noon until 5 p.m. the lawn of the parish will once again be filled with music, dance, food, and children's festivities. All funds raised support the parish. The event has been going on for generations originating as a family community picnic at Holy Family Parish. When Holy Family closed St. Joseph took it over.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The City Council is considering asking voters, "Should public safety leaders be required to reside in Pittsfield?" On Tuesday, councilors unanimously referred Ward 1 Councilor Kenneth Warren's request for a ballot question asking if the restriction that requires such management positions to live in the city should be eliminated to City Solicitor Stephen Pagnotta.
Pagnotta is expected to draft a question with clarifying language and return it to the body in August. He will also identify what a "yes" and "no" vote would entail.
The original motion was to approve Warren's petition but the panel amended it to be a referral

Marauszwski was sentenced to 2 years probation on and after incrassation with the following conditions: mental health and substance treatment as per probation and no drugs and alcohol with random screening.  DALTON, Mass. -- Bryce Hoff went 2-for-3 with a home run Tuesday to lead the Pittsfield Little League American Division 12-year-old All-Stars to a 10-0 win over Dalton-Hinsdale in the Don Gleason District 1 Tournament. Jack Wendling went 3-for-3 with a pair of RBIs, and Cooper Reed hit a solo home run for the Americans, who scored four runs in the third and fourth innings to end the game early by the run rule. Hoff struck out 11 of the 15 batters he faced in the win.  A Pittsfield Fire Department report released early Wednesday morning stated that the fire origin area is where the deli counter was located. PFD members worked aggressively to control/extinguish the fire, ventilate the smoke, and prevent the fire's spread. The fire was eventually brought under control in a little over an hour and a fire watch was posted through the evening. The report continued that there is no damage estimate at this time, and the building sustained heavy fire damage in the rear of the store, smoke, and water damage. PITTSFIELD, Mass — Berkshire Community College (BCC) announced the creation of a Water Quality Monitoring Certificate Program, a new offering for the fall 2023 semester. The program, designed to train drinking water and wastewater professionals, requires the completion of three courses totaling 11 credits: ENV-205 Environmental Monitoring and Assessment (4 credits) ENV-182 Environmental Advocacy (3 credits) CHEM 150A Essentials of Chemistry (4 credits) The certificate can be completed in as little as two semesters and is "stackable," meaning credits earned can be applied toward an associate degree in Environmental 0 Comments

 PITTSFIELD, Mass.—In two years, nine-year-old Elliot Mack raised about $800 with his lemonade stand for local organizations, but this year he set out on a mission to raise $1,000 for the nonprofit Strong Little Souls Foundation. And the community has gone above and beyond, doubling his original goal. This year Elliot raised $2,020 in donations and sales for the organization dedicated to "brightening the lives of children battling cancer, and their families."  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Although the entire county is experiencing flooding, North County seems to have been hit the hardest. In North Adams a sinkhole on State Street at the bottom of Morgan Ave has closed down a portion of the driving lane. A police officer is on-site directing traffic. Brooklyn Street is completely closed off with the roadway caving in along the side of the road. Church street, Houghton Street, and West Shaft Road, among others have also had significant flooding and damage.
