DALTON, Mass. – Hunter Potash Saturday struck out 11 and allowed no earned runs in pitching the Housatonic River Monsters to a 4-3 win over the North County Kraken in the opening game of the Berkshire Adult Baseball League 20-and-over division Championship Series. The River Monsters can complete the defense of their 2022 title on Sunday at 10 a.m. when they face the Kraken in Game 2 of their best-of-three series at 10 a.m. at Hoosac Valley High School. BOSTON — The state Department of Public Utilities opened an investigation to establish municipal aggregation guidelines, with the goal of creating a more efficient and streamlined process for cities and towns to establish municipal aggregation programs for their residents and businesses. The order opens an investigation, and includes proposed guidelines, as well as a proposed template municipal aggregation plan designed to aid municipalities in developing new municipal aggregation plans. DALTON, Mass. — A residence located at 96 Anthony Road is facing condemnation unless the resident can make strides in cleaning the property to meet safety standards. Despite having concerns, the Board of Health this week agreed to give Gary Dill an additional four weeks to clean the property. The board previously approved a deadline of Aug. 14 to clean the kitchen, clear the egresses in all rooms, remove debris, repair the front stairs, and install smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, Health Agent Agnes Witkowski said. DALTON, Mass. — Following a lengthy and at times heated discussion, the Select Board voted in favor of relocating the town's polling station to the Senior Center as of March 5, 2024. The split decision to move it from the Community Recreation Association passed 3-2 following remarks made by residents, the police chief, the town clerk, and board members, and against the recommendation of an ad hoc committee to stay at the CRA for now. During the annual town meeting, residents voted to have the town clerk and safety officials assess possible voting locations and present their findings to the board at the end of 120 days.
