PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Residents will have two opportunities to dispose of their old trash and recycling containers as the new toter system rolls out. This includes a drop-off at Casella Waste Systems' transfer station, located at 500 Hubbard Ave., and a residential pickup within the next few weeks. On Saturday, Nov. 9, residents can drop them off at the transfer station from 8 a.m. to noon. During the week of Nov. 11-15, old trash and recycling containers will be picked up curbside on the same day of scheduled collection. "Casella will pick up any old trash and recycling containers, left at the curbside, by a separate truck and not by the trash or recycling truck," the

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Three city residents sustained gunshot wounds while in the larger downtown area this week. The Pittsfield Police Department responded to shooting reports on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday on First Street and Pleasant Street. A person was shot during each incident but injuries were considered non-life threatening. Two incidents on Pleasant Street are believed to be related. These do not appear to be random acts of violence, police say, and are not a threat to the general public. There is no further information at this time. The location has been an automotive repair shop, Miller's Service, for several decades until its owner, Darren Miller, sold it to Lipton Properties in February 2024 for $500,000. Lipton Properties agreed to purchase the property provided the environment was in good condition, and the garage lifts and unused underground tanks were removed, said Michael Lipton, president of Lipton Inc. The annual event at The Colonial Theatre has been a staple for the band since the early 2000s. Paul Menard, 65, was arraigned Friday in Central Berkshire District Court on one count of murder in the first degree. He was held without the right to bail, without prejudice.
