Berkshire Force Opens Play in New England Regional

PITTSFIELD, Mass. – The Berkshire Force 12-and-under travel softball team Friday morning rallied with five runs in the top of the sixth but could not catch the Stamford, Conn., Stars in the opening game of the Babe Ruth New England Regional at the Doyle Complex.   Daisy Caron went 1-for-1 with a pair of RBIs, and Cassidy Flynn struck out eight for the Force in a 7-5 loss to open the first round of the three-team 12U division.   Berkshire is set to take on the third team in the age group, the Windham, N.H., Wildcats, at 5 p.m. on Friday before heading to the double-elimination bracket phase on Saturday morning.   In the opener, the Force left eight runners on base over

Two Arrested in Connection With Lee Home Invasion

LEE, Mass. — According to a statement released by the District Attorney's Office and the Lee Police Department, two suspects, K'Aunte Carnute, 23 of Pittsfield, and a juvenile, were arrested on June 26 and 27 by the Pittsfield Police Department.   According to a report, On June 25, at approximately 4pm, Lee Police officers responded to a home situated along the Main Street corridor in Lee for a reported home invasion and armed robbery.  Police responded to the home following an emergency 911 call. Pittsfield Council Amends Cannabis Ordinance, Celebrates PHS Athletes

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Following a lawsuit settlement, the City Council has unanimously voted to eliminate the cap of 35 recreational cannabis businesses allowed in Pittsfield.

The zoning amendment aims to eliminate potential conflict between a forthcoming city ordinance that will address equity and Host Community Agreement policies.

Large Solar PV Arrays Likely Not Feasible in Dalton

Gavin O'Donnell Leads Legion Team Past Westfield

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Gavin O’Donnell went 4-for-4 with a triple Thursday to lead the Pittsfield Post 68 Juniors to a 10-0 win over Westfield Post 124 in American Legion Baseball play.   Connor Devine went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, and Jason Codey drove in a pair of runs.   Matt Egan earned the win on the mound, striking out three, walking a pair and scattering three hits in four innings on the mound.   Post 68 (6-2) is home on Saturday afternoon for a double-header against West Springfield Post 207.

Volunteers Needed to Clean Up the West Branch Housatonic River

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Volunteers are needed to help clean up the west branch of the Housatonic River with Berkshire Environmental Action Team (BEAT) and Housatonic Valley Association (HVA) at one of their annual river cleanups this Saturday, June 29, from 9 AM to Noon.    After the cleanup, volunteers will be provided a free lunch from a local restaurant. Volunteers must RSVP in advance to reserve a free lunch.    Participants should meet at Wahconah Park, 105 Wahconah Street, Pittsfield, at 9 AM on June 29. Lanesborough Rebuff of Gold Star Exemption Dismays Pittsfield Officials

LANESBOROUGH, Mass. — Pittsfield officials are disappointed that Lanesborough rejected a proposal for Gold Star family tax exemptions, clarifying that the city proudly adopted this years ago.

Dalton Installs Seven Accessible Picnic Tables

Six of the seven tables have been installed; the seventh is planned for the Pine Grove Park pavilion. The tables were purchased through a grant. Software Upgrades Impacting Pittsfield Online Permitting System

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Due to software upgrades, the City of Pittsfield’s Engineering Division permitting system, PermitEyes, will be temporarily unavailable beginning at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26 through Sunday, June 30.   Beginning on Monday, July 1, the new version of PermitEyes will be live for the Engineering Division.
