PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Berkshire Community College (BCC) will hold a series of "free college" information sessions specially designed for students over the age of 25 and for nursing students of any age.  BELCHERTOWN, Mass. -- Simon Mele hit for the cycle on Tuesday night to lead the Pittsfiel dPost 68 Juniors to a 12-0 win over Belchertown Post 239 in American Legion Baseball action. Mele went 4-for-4 with a home run, a triple, a double and six RBIs in the win. He doubled in a pair of runs in the first inning, tripled in two runs in the third, singled in the fifth and hit a two-run homer in the sixth. Gavin O'Donnell also doubled in an eight-hit attack for Post 68. O'Donnell and Devin Reynolds split time on the mound, striking out 11 and scattering four hits.  LANESBOROUGH, Mass. — John Goerlach was presented with his nameplate for the Select Board and thanked for his nearly two decades of service to the town. Monday's Select Board meeting began with a baton passing of sorts as newly elected Deborah Maynard started her term and town officials marked Goerlach's departure.
He served Lanesborough for 18 years; first elected in 2006, he did not seek re-election this year.
"You've been an influence and a mentor to me as I joined the board and I'll never forget that," Chair Michael Murphy said. "I value the friendship we've developed as well as the professional relationship."

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Methuselah Bar and Lounge was back in front of the Licensing Board after a stabbing outside the bar and allegations of overserving. On Monday, the board continued a hearing for Methuselah so that the establishment and police can discuss the May 10 incident. The bar's attorney William Martin said he received the police's detailed reasoning for the hearing just over an hour before the meeting and that a public records request was needed for the report from that night.
"I think that that is unfair, unwarranted, and inappropriate," he said.

 DALTON, Mass. — The Board of Health has ordered that a formal plan be in place to address the dilapidated condition of the house at 27 Mountain View Terrace. Health Agent Agnes Witkowski has cited several safety issues with the home, including clutter blocking egresses, a collapsing roof and porch, mold throughout the house, especially in the basement where there is water damage, and the lack of water, electricity, and gas.  DALTON, Mass. — The Fire District has launched its new website last week. Fire Chief Christian Tobin has described the previous site as "lightyears" behind where it needed to be and that the district needed "an interactive website that's exciting, that draws people into the Fire District." PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Respiratory Care program at Berkshire Community College (BCC), which offers an associate in science degree to students who complete the program, has seen growth over the past few years. So much so that, with more than 70 applications received, the enrollment cap has now been increased to meet demand. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Executive O?ce of Energy and Environmental A?airs (EEA) awarded an $80,000 Healthy Soils Plan Implementation Challenge Grant to the Berkshire Conservation District. The grant will be used to fund no-till equipment program enhancements. Currently, renters of the District's 12-foot no-till drill must have access to a 125-horsepower tractor to operate the 12-foot no-till drill - a bigger tractor than most small farms have access to. In addition, a vehicle rated for towing 9,000 pounds, without trailer brakes, is required to tow it to the field.  Wahconah Regional High School graduate and UMass Boston sophomore Aryianna Garceau earned all-America honors in the 100-meter hurdles at May's NCAA Division III Championships. Garceau took sixth in the finals with a time of 14.05 seconds after qualifying for the finals with a time of 13.97, which broke a 35-year school record. In earning all-America honors, Garceau became the 20th Beacon to achieve that honor and the first since 2018. Earlier in May, Garceau was named to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Association's all-Region team.
