PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Mariano James Frazitta, 98, of Pittsfield, Mass., died Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at Kimball Farms Nursing care Center in Lenox.
He was born in Pittsfield, Mass., on June 6, 1919, son of Castrenzi Frazitta and Margaret (Gallo) Frazitta. He attended Pittsfield schools.
Mariano was a veteran of World War II and served in the US Army in Europe. He was employed by General Electric Co. for many years until his retirement.
He was a communicant of the former Mount Carmel Church. Mariano enjoyed playing cards, horse-racing and trips to Las Vegas.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Maria (Gori) Frazitta, whom he married on August 10, 1945; one daughter, Margaret M. Ward and her husband Richard of Pittsfield; one son, Robert Mario Frazitta and his wife Diana of Marlborough, Mass.; six grandchildren, including Katherine Ward of Pittsfield, Matthew R. Ward of Darien, Conn., Stephanie Frazitta of Barrington, R.I., Robyn Cotnoir of Medford, Mass., Kimberly Frazitta of Redondo Beach, Calif., and James Frazitta of Burlington, Vt.; three great-grandchildren, including Audrey, Juliet and Annie; three brothers, Frank Frazitta of San Jose, Calif., William Frazitta of Knoxville, Tenn., and Jerry Frazitta of Weymouth, Mass.; and nieces and nephews.
Three sisters and one brother are deceased, including Emily Filiault, Catherine Zaccari, Virginia Pignone and Anthony Frazitta.
Funeral notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mariano Frazitta will be celebrated Saturday, June 10, 2017, at 9 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 191 Elm St., Pittsfield, Mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
