Elna E. Castonguay, 70

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Elna E. Castonguay, 70, of 17 Hollister Street passed away on Monday, September 18, 2017, at Bay State Medical Center in Springfield.
Born on November 3, 1946, in Springfield, she was a daughter of the late Robert L. and Elsie Rindfleisch Poirier. A longtime Pittsfield resident, she had also resided in Lanesborough and Adams at one time. She was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1965 graduate of the last graduating class at the former Searles High School. She also received her associate degree in office administration from Berkshire Community College. She was employed for twenty-three years as a secretary for the Massachusetts Department of Wildlife Western District Office in Dalton. She retired in May of 2014. She had also worked at one time for BARC.
She enjoyed watching murder mysteries, gardening and reading romance novels. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She leaves two daughters, April N. Castonguay of Pittsfield and Sheryl-Lyn Jandreau of Ashland, Maine; a son, Jeremy Mack of Pittsfield; a brother, Robert "Butch" Lewis and his wife Maryellen of Tarentum, Pa.; two sisters, Debbie Durkac of Natrona Heights, Pa., and Haroldean Mallory of North Carolina; five grandchildren, Krysta Santapolo. Ashlyn Castonguay, Kevin Soucie, Connor Failla and Gabriella Failla; three great-grandchildren, Dakota Santapolo, Noah Santapolo and Eloise Krebs; and her former husband, Paul Castonguay, and his wife Carole of Palmer, Mass.
She was predeceased by a son, the late John-Paul Castonguay, who died February 28, 2012.
Funeral notice: Calling hours for Elna E. Castonguay, who passed away September 18, 2017, will be held Saturday, September 23, 2017, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Dery Funeral Home in Pittsfield. Burial will private. Memorial donations in memory of Elna may be made to the funeral home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201 to help her family with funeral expenses.
