PITTSFIELD, Mass. — D. Denny Amlaw Jr., of Pittsfield, passed away on December 18, 2017, at age 87.
Born in Pittsfield on July 29, 1930, the son of the late Dennis Amlaw, Sr., and Bernadette Phaneuf Amlaw, he attended Pittsfield schools. A Korean War veteran, Mr. Amlaw enlisted in the United States Navy where he was Honorably discharged.
Mr. Amlaw was a First Class Stationery Engineer at Crane and Company, and also worked for Sweatland Pierce. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.
He enjoyed bowling, golfing and going to casinos as well as Saratoga for the horse races.
Mr. Amlaw is survived by his wife of 65 years, the former Sarah Dougherty. He is also survived by his daughters, Tricia Platt and her husband Patrick of Dalton, and Beverly Ricciarini and her husband Chris of Pittsfield; as well as a son, David Amlaw and his wife Tina of Pittsfield; seven grandchildren, Erin Burgess, Kaitlyn Platt, Angela Galaska, Nicholas Ricciarini, Sara Corna, Megan Trivilino, and Joseph Amlaw; and seven great-grandchildren, Kady, Willhem, Kevin, Matthew, Ryan, Olive and Mollie.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Pearl Gurin and Elizabeth Lau.
Funeral notice: The funeral for D. Denny Amlaw Jr. will be held Friday, December 22, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 191 Elm St., Pittsfield, with the Rev. Michael Bernier officiating. Burial will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held at Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, on Thursday, December 21, 2017, from 4 to 7 p.m.
