WILLIAMSBURG, Mass. — Edward M. Hall, 75, of Williamsburg, formerly of Pittsfield, died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton after a long struggle with cancer.
Born in Pittsfield on March 11, 1942, a son of Thomas A. and Violet Lester Hall, he was educated in Pittsfield schools, graduating from Pittsfield High School in 1961. He later graduated from Berkshire Community College and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
A Navy veteran, he served as a seaman, lastly with Fighter Squadron 31 at Naval Station Jacksonville, Fla., in 1962.
Following a long career in sales, Mr. Hall retired in 2006. He also had worked at the former General Electric in Pittsfield.
An enthusiastic golfer and avid Red Sox fan, he coached Little League in Williamsburg for several years. He was also a member of the Williamsburg Lions Club. He was proud of his Irish heritage and read much about American and Irish history. He was very proud of all of his daughters and loved watching his grandchildren grow up around him.
He and his late wife, the former
Lynda Gall, were married Sept. 7, 1963, in St. Joseph's Church in Pittsfield. Mrs. Hall died Feb. 16, 2010.
He leaves three daughters, former North Adams City Councilor Lisa M. Blackmer and her husband, William, of North Adams, Erica L. Hall of Wivenhoe, England, and Suzanne E. Howell and her husband, David, of Williamsburg; a sister, Beverly Smith, and a brother, Milton Hall, both of Pittsfield; sisters-in-law, Margo Valone and Patricia Hall; six grandchildren, Allyson, Emily, Mia, and Airman Martin Howell, and William and Jennifer Blackmer; three great-granddaughters and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, he was predeceased by an infant daughter and infant son and by his brothers Richard and Thomas Hall.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Calling hours for Mr. Hall will be held Saturday, Feb. 17, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Drozdal Funeral Home,120 Damon Road, Northampton. Burial will be in the spring at the convenience of the family.
