Henry ‘Hank’ Kirchner, 75

February 13, 2018


PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Henry A. “Hank” Kirchner, 75, of Pittsfield, Mass., passed away on February 13, 2018, at his home. 



Born March 25, 1942, to the late Earl and Mabel Shaw Kirchner, he was a graduate of Pittsfield High School. Hank joined the Army and served in the Vietnam War. Hank was married to former Maryann Joseph, whom he was predeceased by. A painter by trade, he previously worked as a manager at Adams Supermarket and Spencer Shoes. 



He was a communicant of St. Mark’s Church. Hank enjoyed fishing and hunting, and he had played baseball and basketball in his younger years. He was a fan of the New York Yankees and Miami Dolphins and enjoyed watching the Boston Celtics.



Mr. Kirchner leaves behind a son, Henry Kirchner and his wife Robin of Roxbury, Mass.; a sister, Beverly Slater and her husband Bob of East Brunswick, N.J.; a brother, David Kirchner and wife Kathy of Pittsfield; and a brother in-law, John Hyland of Lanesborough, Mass. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. 



Besides his wife, Mr. Kirchner was predeceased by his brothers, Nick Kirchner, Lawrence Kirchner and Donald Kirchner; and sisters Rosemary Herlihey, Gloria Hyland, Sherry Carnevalle and Margaret Kirchner. 



Funeral notice: Funeral services for Mr. Henry A. “Hank” Kirchner will be held Saturday, February 17, 2018, at 8:15 a.m. from Dery Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Mark’s Church, celebrated by Rev. David E. Aufiero, Pastor. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Josephs Cemetery. 



Calling hours will be held Friday, February 16, 2018, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Soldier On in care of the funeral home.
