Caroline S. Kimber, 89

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Caroline "Carol" S. Kimber, age 89, of Pomeroy Avenue, died Friday, March 9, 2018, at home.



She was born in Pittsfield on June 24, 1928, the daughter of the late Henry and Florence McCarry Kimber. She was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1947 graduate of Pittsfield High School and a 1950 graduate of Berkshire Business College.



During World War II, Carol worked in the Philadelphia Frankfort Arsenal as a CPA2 Messenger for the Commanding Officer. She then worked for New England Telephone Company as a service representative, retiring on June 2, 1983, with 30 years of service and perfect attendance throughout her career. She volunteered for 15 years for Junior Achievement Advisor, serving on the JA Board of Directors from 1968 until 2003; 20 years at the Tanglewood Glass House; the United Way; the National Archives; and as a Eucharistic Minister and Adoration Chapel at Sacred Heart Church Parish. She enjoyed gardening and golfing.



Carol is survived by her two nieces, Ann Marie (and Robert) Morris of Pittsfield and Florence (and Robert) Dodge of Windsor, Mass.; her nephew, Robert (and Jeannie) Kimber of Pittsfield; her great-nieces and -nephews, Sarah Morris Gerhard, Michael Beaupre, Patrick Kilfeather, Elizabeth Kimber and Jeremy Kimber; several great-great-nieces and -nephews; her sister-in-law, Irene Maffuccio Kimber; and her niece-in-law, Marie Kimber.



She was predeceased by her brother, William "Scotty" Kimber; nephew, William "Billy" Kimber; her godmother, Marion Weslowski; and her beloved dog Gigi.



Funeral notice: Calling hours will be Thursday, March 15, 2018, from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at the Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church followed by entombment at St. Joseph's Cemetery, St. Michael the Archangel Chapel Mausoleum.



In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the funeral home. The family would like to extend a special Thank you to the caregivers from At Home with Berkshire Place, especially Kerry Richard and Home Instead.
