PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Katherine “Eva” Alvira Laurin LaFlamme, 89, of 46 Deborah Ave., Pittsfield, and previously of Ocala, Florida, passed away peacefully March 28, 2018, at Mt. Greylock Extended Care in Pittsfield. Her children, husband, sister and some of her nieces, nephews and other loved ones were at her side.
Eva was born in Pittsfield on April 27, 1928, the daughter of the late Eugenio and Talinda Sciarra Blefari. She was a graduate of Pittsfield High School. She married Emile Laurin April 11, 1953, and they remained together until his death in 1982. She remarried in 1986 to Richard LaFlamme of Pittsfield.
Prior to her first marriage, Eva worked briefly at General Electric in Pittsfield. What she really excelled at was being a wife, mother, and friend to all, including being a “second Mom” to many. She was the best cook many people ever knew. If you visited her home, you ate something. After her family, she loved painting, Italian music and, most of all, singing in her beautiful voice.
Eva leaves behind her husband Richard; a son, Joseph Laurin and wife Maureen of Concord, Mass.; two daughters, Mary Laurin Blair and husband Tony of Pittsfield and Deborah Laurin-Bielat and husband Kenneth of Fallbrook, Calif.; a step-daughter, Ann Marie Coury of Florida; her sister, Rose Sayers of Pittsfield; two brothers, Paul Blefari of Sunnyvale, Calif., and Frank Blefari of Los Gatos, Calif.; and two grandsons, Emile and Michael Laurin.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Emile; and her sister Laura Sayers.
Funeral notice: Funeral services for Eva will be held Thursday April 5, 2018, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Hospice Care in the Berkshires in care of Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, Mass.
