PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Carol Bailey Harris, 91, of Berkshire Place, Pittsfield, formerly of 16 Alice Avenue, Lanesborough, passed away peacefully April 9, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Pittsfield on March 24, 1927, the daughter of Albert C. and Susan Webster Bailey, she attended Pittsfield Schools. Carol married the late Paul N. Harris, who predeceased her on April 13, 2012.
She was a secretary for many years, having worked at General Electric. She also ran Harris Printing with her husband Paul. She was a communicant of Morningside Baptist Church, and was a diehard Boston Red Sox fan. Carol was an avid reader, and was so very intelligent; she often read multiple books in a week. She was a season ticket holder at Mac-Haydn Theater for many years, she loved musicals and theater. During the last six years while living at Berkshire Place, she learned to paint. Her room was decorated with all of her beautiful watercolors.
She leaves behind her son, Peter Harris and his wife Marcia of Pittsfield; her granddaughter, Meghan Harris and her fiancé Dan Chase of Andover, Mass.; and grandson Mitchell Harris of Hinsdale, Mass.
She was predeceased by her daughter Gail Rothwell.
Carol's family would like to thank the staff at Berkshire Place for the amazing care she received during her time there.
Funeral notice: Funeral services for Carol will be held Saturday, April 14, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Dery Funeral Home in Pittsfield with Rev. Dr. Robert M. Rennie officiating. Burial will follow at Pittsfield Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held Friday, April 13, 2018, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Dery Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Hospice Care in the Berkshires, in care of the funeral home.
