PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Thomas J. Piacenti, 92, of 329 Pittsfield Road, Lenox, Mass., and former longtime Pittsfield, Mass., resident passed away Sunday, October 28, 2018, at Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility.
He was born in Pittsfield, Mass., on May 17, 1926, a son of the late Joseph and Ersilia (Caruso) Piacenti. He attended Pittsfield Schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1944. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was employed for 9 years at A&P Tea Company in Pittsfield and then for 40 years as a salesmen for J.B. Paper Co. in Pittsfield.
Thomas was a communicant of the former Mt. Carmel Church; a member of the Sons of Italy ITAM Lodge No. 564 of Pittsfield where he served as a Trustee, Orator and on the realty trust; and Civitan Club of Pittsfield. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 448 of Pittsfield, American Legion Post 446 of Lanesborough and a former Past Post Commander and District Commander.
Survivors include one son, David M. Piacenti and his wife Maureen of Jupiter, Fla.; two grandchildren, David M. Piacenti Jr. and his wife Stephanie of Larchmont, N.Y., and Tamela Piacenti and her fiancé Michael Wronski of Seattle, Wash.; and two great-grandchildren, Cameron and Maverick.
He was predeceased by his longtime friend, Rose A. Blasioli.
Funeral notice: Services for Thomas J. Piacenti will take place Saturday, November 3, 2018, at 10 a.m. at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Bencivenga Funeral Home, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, Mass., with the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker C.S.S. officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
