PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Helen Theodora Maniatis, 91, passed away October 30, 2018, at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility.
Born on July 6, 1927 in the Bronx, New York, she was the daughter of the late Corina (nee Venis) and Cosmos Davoulas. Helen and her family moved to Charleston, South Carolina, where she attended high school and college. She met Christo Maniatis while attending the University of South Carolina. They married just weeks after meeting and were married for 65 years. Chriso pre-deceased Helen in 2013.
Helen became a full-time homemaker, dedicating her life to being a loving and caring wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother and friend. She also loved golfing, bowling, cards and her tag sales.
She was known for her zest of life, friendly smile and fun-loving spirit.
Helen is survived by her two children, Nicholas (Janet) of Pittsfield and Kiki Robinson (Rob) of Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich.; five grandchildren, Kristy Maniatis, Jennifer Reiter, Christopher Maniatis, James Robinson (Yvette) and Christopher Robinson (Kourtney); and eight great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Mt. Greylock Extended Care Facility and Hospice Care in the Berkshires for their compassionate care.
Funeral notice: Funeral services for Mrs. Maniatis will be held Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at 11 a.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Church. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. George Greek Orthodox Church, in care of Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
