PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Paul Freeman “Gramps” Pettibone Sr., 90, of Pittsfield, Mass., passed away November 27, 2018, at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Lenox on April 7, 1928, the son of the late Alfred S. and Annabelle L. Winters Pettibone, he was a graduate of Lenox schools. Mr. Pettibone married the former Elizabeth Houghtlin on June 10, 1950.
He worked as a sanitation truck driver for 31 years. He previously worked at The Arcade as an attendant for 25 years, and for 12 years at The Rainbow. He was a member of the Eagles Club and the Salvation Army.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 68 years, Elizabeth Pettibone of Pittsfield; son, Paul Pettibone Jr. of Pittsfield; daughters Jean Brookman and husband Glenn of Pittsfield and Linda Hall and husband Charles of Pittsfield; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Pettibone was predeceased by five brothers and four sisters.
Funeral notice: Funeral services will be he held Saturday, December 1, 2018, at 11 a.m. at The Salvation Army, 298 West Street, Pittsfield, with Captain Elliott Higgins, officiating. Burial to follow at Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will precede the service from 10 to 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to The Salvation Army in care of Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
