PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Robert J. Taylor Jr., 67, of Pittsfield, Mass., passed away December 15, 2018, at Berkshire Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Pittsfield on November 7, 1951, the son of the late Robert J. “Hawk” Taylor Sr. and Dolores T. Potash Taylor, he was a 1970 graduate of Taconic High School. He was a Technical Sergeant and 34 year veteran in the U.S. Air Force Reserve, traveling to the countries of Panama, Guam, Japan and Germany. He was deployed to Qatar in 2002, where he served for one year.
Mr. Taylor worked for the past eight years as an inspector of weights and measures for the city of Pittsfield. He was a dedicated worker who enjoyed working for the city.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his friends.
Robert leaves behind his former wife and companion, Linda A. Hopkins of Pittsfield; his daughter, Kelly A. Taylor-Malone; daughter-in-law Megan Malone of Pittsfield; his son Robert G. “Rob” Taylor of North Chelmsford, Mass.; two grandchildren, Noah and Olivia Taylor-Malone; his sister, Sharon A. Shook, and her husband Paul of West Stockbridge, Mass.; as well as his niece Whitney and his nephew Brett and his wife Charlotte Shook.
Funeral notice: Funeral services for Mr. Taylor will be held Thursday, December 20, 2018, at 6 p.m. at Dery Funeral Home in Pittsfield. Calling hours will precede the service from 4 to 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Jimmy Fund in care of Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
