PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Anita Gaulden, 66, of Pittsfield, Mass., peacefully passed away February 19, 2020, surrounded by her family at Berkshire Medical Center.
Anita Louise Gaulden, affectionately known as "Niecey," was born February 20, 1953, in Philadelphia, Pa., to the late Thomas Randolph Brown and Dorothy Scott Brown, both of Philadelphia. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Thomas Allen Scott and Randolph Wooden, and her sisters, Cheryl A Goines and Rebecca E. Brown
Anita was educated in the Philadelphia school system, graduating from Overbrook High School in Philly. She moved to Pittsfield in 1973 with her husband Lawrence O. Gaulden.
She leaves to mourn with cherished memories her husband, Lawrence Gaulden; her children, Newlin (Arnele), Kenneth (Hahna), Tamnika (Millard) and Myia (James); one brother, Douglas Brown (Gloria), and one brother-in-law, Arnold Goines, both of Philadelphia; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral notice: Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Price Memorial AME Zion Church, 163 Linden St., Pittsfield, Mass. Calling hours will be held Monday, February 24, 2020, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Women of Color Giving Circle in care of the funeral home.
