PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Albina M. Affhauser, 69, died Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at home with family by her side, after a short battle with cancer.
She was born on May 25, 1951 to James Nichlen and Elaine Benoit. She was a hard-working, caring, loving and compassionate mother, wife and friend. She loved nature, being outside in the woods, camping, being with her family and friends. She liked to crotchet, play cards and watch her favorite crime scene shows.
She retired from Springside Nursing Home of Pittsfield in 2016, as director of activities. She enjoyed helping everyone. She loved her family and spending time together.
She is survived by three daughters, Regina Marquis (Steven Kibling), Kristina Contois (Stephen Myers) and Jamie Affhauser; one son, Jacob Affhauser (Mechelle Darnell); two granddaughters, Amberlynn Contois (Christopher Peneherrara) and Lexus Marquis; an older brother, James Nichlen; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral notice: Memorial services will be held August 8, 2020, at 10 a.m. at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 67 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. Family will greet friends and family after services in the Guild Room at the parish for refreshments.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff on 5W of Berkshire Medical Center, and HospiceCare in the Berkshires. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church; HospiceCare in the Berkshires or the American Cancer Society.
