PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Brian Dewitt Goines, 59, of Pittsfield, transitioned to be with the Lord on Oct. 29, 2020, after a brief illness.
Born in Pittsfield on June 19, 1961, the son of Oliver Goines and Elaine Dunning. He was educated in the Pittsfield Public School System and graduated from Taconic High School, Class of 1980.
Brian was employed for over thirty years as a construction worker. Most of his time was spent with Maximilian and Petricca Construction Company. Throughout his years with these companies, he was able to participate in major projects such as the construction of the Berkshire Mall and the Lee Outlets. From these experiences, he used his construction skills to build his own home in 1997. In addition to Brian's construction career, he opened a retail store called 'Buy and Sell' on North street.
Brian also enjoyed camping, fishing and sports. He was a devoted Los Angeles Lakers and Oakland Raiders fan. He was well known throughout the community for his Raiders and Lakers jackets and other sports memorabilia. Another passion was his love for German Shepard Dogs. If you lived on the West-Side you were more than familiar with Trouble.
Brian is survived by his mother Elaine Dunning of Pittsfield, son Schuyler Goines, daughter Jhyllian Goines, grandson Jordan Bourne of New Haven, Conn., and Stepson Tyrone Rowe of Pittsfield. In addition, he leaves behind six brothers; Oliver Goines Jr., Blake Goines, Kirt Goines, Clayton Goines, Kip (Teresa) Goines, Brett Goines and sister Jessica Goines, all of Pittsfield, along with a host of Nieces and Nephews to add to the Great Goines Family Tree. He was preceded by his father, Oliver Goines.
His many passions and loving spirit will leave a lasting impact on the hearts of the Pittsfield community. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and those that knew him. Rest in Peace Dad our King; True West Side Legend, Master G, I Roc G, Candy Apple G., Sweet G, G-man, Brian.
Funeral Notice: Calling hours for Brian D. Goines will be Friday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at Dery Funeral Home. We gently remind those attending that masks are required and to please practice social distancing. Funeral service (invite only) will be held Saturday, November 7, at 10:00 a.m. Due to Covid-19 only a limited amount of people can attend the funeral service in person.
