PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Irene T. Watroba, 90 of Pittsfield, MA died Friday December 18, 2020 at Craneville Place of Dalton after a short illness.
She was born in Pittsfield, MA on March 1, 1930, a daughter of Antonia (Bogusz) and Frank Watroba. She graduated from Pittsfield High School.
Ms. Watroba was a communicant of Holy Family Church until its closure and then a member of St. Joseph's Parish. She worked at Sheaffer-Eaton Paper Company until her retirement in 1988. In her younger years, "Blondie" was an avid bowler, and loved to travel including two trips to Hawaii. She was a life-long Red Sox fan, and loved going to Wahconah Park to watch the Pittsfield baseball teams. Ms. Watroba was very proud of her Polish heritage and rarely missed a summertime Polish picnic at Holy Family or St. Joseph's. She loved the holidays with the traditional Polish family gatherings. She was well known for her kapusta and other Polish dishes. Ms. Watroba loved cats, and her house and clothing was often decorated with them. While at Craneville Place she loved playing Bingo and doing puzzles and word games.
Ms. Watroba is survived by her sister-in-law, Dorothy Watroba and was predeceased by her brothers- Ignatius, Bronick, Walter, Stanley and her sister, Jennie Lipari. She was a beloved Aunt and is survived by nieces and nephews- Edward Watroba, Carol Watroba, Richard Watroba (Carol), William Watroba (Joan), James Watroba (Debbie), Christine Elser (Jesse), Debbie Boyd, Thomas Watroba (Bonnie), Robert Watroba (Lee), David Watroba, and Patricia Watroba. She was predeceased by her nephews Peter Watroba and Lawrence Lipari. She also leaves many grandnieces and grandnephews and great grand nieces and great grand nephews who she loved dearly.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A private funeral for Irene Watroba will be held Wednesday December 23, 2020 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St. Pittsfield, MA and friends may attend the burial service by meeting at 1:30 PM inside the gate at St. Joseph's Cemetery. A Memorial Mass will be announced at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
