PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Mr. Edwin J. Krzynowek, 88, of Pittsfield, died peacefully Saturday morning, March 18, 2023 at Berkshire Place in Pittsfield. He was born in Pittsfield on July 1, 1934, son of the late Walter Krzynowek and Helen (Satko) Krzynowek Lavelle, and attended Pittsfield schools, graduating from Pittsfield High School with the Class of 1952.
Ed was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the US Navy aboard the USS Corduba from 1952 until his Honorable Discharge in 1954. He was a meat cutter by trade and retired as the manager of the meat department at Big Y Supermarket in Great Barrington in 1996. Earlier, he had worked at the former Grand Union, First National and Adams Supermarkets. He was a communicant of St. Charles Church, Pittsfield, and was a communicant of the former Holy Family Church in Pittsfield. He was a member of American Legion Post 68 in Pittsfield. He was an accomplished and skilled woodworker and enjoyed trips to the casinos.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, the former Eleanor A. Stockley, whom he married on October 8, 1955; a son, Edwin W. Krzynowek and his wife, Tina, of Pittsfield; a daughter, Ann Marie Krzynowek of Pittsfield; three grandchildren, Katelyn Kiernan and her husband, Matthew; Kelsey Krzynowek and Kayley Krzynowek; his grand dogs Rudy and Jordy; his close friends Dave Leone and Bob Librizzi, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Lillian Koza.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 24th at 11:00 AM in St. Charles Church, Pittsfield, celebrated by Rev. Daniel Cymer. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Pittsfield. Calling hours at the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, will be held on Thursday from 5 to 7 PM.
