PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Barbara A. Radice, age 81, passed away October 13, 2024 at Berkshire Medical Center of complications from Alzheimer’s Disease from which she suffered for over 12 years. She was born in Adams and lived in Berkshire County her entire life residing at Berkshire Place Nursing Home in Pittsfield for the past six years.
Barbara was the oldest of three daughters of Roma M. (Molleur) and Kenneth W. Lewis. She was a 1961 graduate of Adams Memorial High School. After graduation she worked as a secretary at General Electric Ordnance Dept. for over 12 years before marrying Joseph Radice in August 1969 at Notre Dame in Adams then leaving work to be a homemaker and raise her daughter Christine.
Barbara was a happy, positive person with a beautiful smile. She enjoyed reading, crafts, flower arranging and collecting pottery. Most of all she was interested in genealogy, researching her ancestors at the New York archives in Albany. She was a direct descendent of Francis Lewis of Albany who signed the Declaration of Independence. She always looked forward to summer vacation at York Beach, Maine where her parents built a cottage in 1963. Barbara could be seen being wheeled daily by Joe on South Street enjoying the outdoors. She was a communicant of St. Charles Borromeo parish for many years.
Barbara is survived by her husband Joe, her daughter Christine E. Radice (partner Dan Corbett) of Brighton MA, her sisters Margaret M. Perreault (Bernard) of Adams MA, and Lea J. Starr (Edward) of Effingham NH. She also leaves her nephews Michael J. Perreault (Linda) and their four children Andrew, Stephen, Christian and Grace all of Adams and Kenneth (Pam) and Eric (Lynn) Blohm.
Barbara’s family gives special thanks to the staff at Berkshire Place for their outstanding service that kept her happy and healthy for over six years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Oct. 18th, at 11:00 AM in St Charles Borromeo Church, 89 Briggs Ave. Pittsfield. Friends may visit with Barbara’s family on Friday from 10:00 AM until the Mass at 11:AM, IN THE CHURCH, directly before the Mass. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams.
