Leona E. Lussier

Leona Elizabeth Lussier, 75, of 15 Kirkwood Drive died yesterday morning at home following a long illness.
Born in Pittsfield on June 9, 1926, daughter of Frederick and Catherine Eagan Poopor, she was a 1944 graduate of St. Joseph Central High School.
A homemaker, Mrs. Lussier also was employed by Dr. Max Fishelson, the Union Federal Savings and Loan Association, and the Capitol Theatre.
A communicant of St. Joseph's Church, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and playing cards.
She leaves her husband of 52 years, Roger Lussier, whom she married May 14.
Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, Joseph R. Lussier of Peru and Robert J. Lussier of the town of Washington; three daughters, Catherine P. Barnes of Dalton, Lynda A. Rivers of Yukon, Okla., and Laura L. Lussier of Pittsfield; a sister, Alva P. Londergan of Pittsfield; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Mark L. Lussier, who died Oct. 24, 1984, and by a sister, Dorothy Holden, who died Nov. 28, 2001.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lussier will be held Friday, April 19, at 8:15 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church with Rev. Michael A. Shershanovich, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Thursday, April 18, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Lussier may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield.
