Elizabeth J. Fares

Elizabeth J. Fares, 89, of 101 Mountain Drive died Monday at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Greenfield on April 18, 1914, daughter of Angelo and Jennie Marfio Bruno, she was educated there and moved to Pittsfield as a young woman.

A homemaker, Mrs. Fares enjoyed reading, crafts, needlework, crocheting and going to tag sales.

She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church and a member of its Rosary Society.

Her husband, Clarence J. Fares, whom she married Feb. 19, 1934, died Aug. 24, 1969.

She leaves a son, Richard A. Fares of Pittsfield, two grandsons and two great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Elizabeth J. Fares, 89, died May 19, 2003. The family will receive friends beginning at 8 tomorrow at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 9 at St. Joseph’s Church by the Rev. Michael Shershanovich, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the St. Joseph’s Parish Improvement Fund in care of the funeral home, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201. Mrs. Fares also is survived by her daughter-in-law, Beverly A. Fares, and her two grandsons, Bruce R. and Mark A. Fares.
