Mabel L. O'Donnell, 82, formerly of 507 Williams St., died Friday evening at Springside of Pittsfield Health Care Facility, where she had resided the past month.
Born in Pittsfield on May 30, 1921, daughter of Jules E. Deloye Sr. and Mabel Burr Deloye, she was a 1939 graduate of Pittsfield High School and a 1942 graduate of the former Bishop Memorial School of Nursing.
She was employed as a registered nurse at the former Pittsfield General Hospital and Berkshire Medical Center, retiring in 1981 after 42 years of service.
She also did private nursing during her career.
She was a member of the Bishop Memorial School of Nursing Alumnae.
Her husband, William J. O'Donnell, whom she married April 10, 1948, died Feb. 8, 1992.
She leaves a brother, Robert B. Deloye of Lanesboro, and a sister, Nancy D. Fitzroy of Niskayuna, N.Y.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Mabel L. O'Donnell died in Pittsfield on Friday, Oct. 10. Beloved aunt to Stephen Deloye, Linda Deloye, Brenda Deloye and Robert Deloye Jr., great-aunt to Katherine Deloye and Jason Deloye. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 6 p.m. at the DWYER FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. Mary Schreiber officiating.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 3 until the time of the service. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Lanesboro at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lanesboro Volunteer Fire Department in care of the funeral home. She was predeceased by a sister, Jeanne Ford, and a brother, Jules Deloye III.
