James "Jazz" DiCicco

James "Jazz" DiCicco, 75, formerly of 379 East St., Providence Court Apartments, died yesterday at Hillcrest Commons, where he had resided since July.

Born in Pittsfield on March 17, 1928, the son of John and Rose Buccella DiCicco, he attended schools in Pittsfield and Lenox.

An Army veteran of World War II, he served in Japan.

He received several campaign medals.

Mr. DiCicco was employed by GE for 25 years, retiring in 1982.

He also sold roses for many years on North Street and at Allendale.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and reading history.

His wife, the former Janice H. Alexander, whom he married Nov. 24, 1948, died July 5, 1995.

He leaves two sons, James M. DiCicco of Northampton and Richard P. DiCicco of Pittsfield; two daughters, Christine J. Ford of Arlington, Texas, and SueAnn Wasuk of Lenox; two sisters, Marguerite DiCicco and Emma Segala, both of Pittsfield; a brother, George H. DiCicco of Pittsfield, and seven grandchildren. Another son, Paul E. DiCicco, died April 18, 1964.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- James "Jazz" DiCicco died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004. At the request of Mr. DiCicco, there will be no funeral or calling hours. Cremation will take place.

He was predeceased by six brothers, Gerald, Dominick, James, John, Alfred and Eugene DiCicco, and by a sister, Viola Colbattista. FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, is in charge of arrangements.
