Ronald Joseph Collins, 50, of Flatland Trail, Converse, Texas, a native of Pittsfield, died Wednesday at home after a long illness.
Born Feb. 7, 1954, son of Deolinda Alice Ferreira Collins of Pittsfield and the late Ronald Francis Collins, he attended Pittsfield schools.
An Air Force veteran, he was an aircraft crew chief, attaining the rank of master sergeant.
Mr. Collins was employed as an aircraft mechanic.
Besides his mother, he leaves his wife, Vickie Collins; a son, Christopher Collins of Converse; a stepson, Bryon Schiffer of Medford, Ore.; a stepdaughter, Stephanie Schiffer of New Haven, Conn.; a sister, Diane Davis of Pittsfield; a brother, Richard Collins of Pittsfield, and a stepgranddaughter.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A rosary will be recited for Ronald Joseph Collins, who died Feb. 11, 2004, at 6 today, Feb. 15, at SCHERTZ FUNERAL HOME, 2217 FM 3009, Schertz, Texas. A Mass will be celebrated tomorrow, Feb. 16, at 9 at St. Monica's Church by the Rev. Balthasar Jamacek, pastor.
Graveside services with military honors will be conducted Tuesday, Feb. 17, at 2:30 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Odyssey, 4415 Pederast Drive West, No. 100, San Antonio, TX 78228.
Survivors include a stepdaughter-in-law, Lisa Schiffer; a brother-in-law, William Davis; a sister-in-law, Margaret Collins, and a stepgranddaughter, Kiana Schiffer.
