Mary A. McGovern, 92, of 34 Daniels Ave. died Wednesday evening at home.
Born in Pittsfield Feb. 14, 1912, daughter of Peter T. and Mary Ann Dunn McGovern, she was a 1930 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Following graduation, she relocated to Washington and was employed by the War Department.
She was last employed as a senior clerk at the Pittsfield office of the federal Health, Education and Welfare Department in the Social Security Administration, retiring in 1977.
She had also worked at the Child Labor Department in Westfield, and as a bookkeeper for her family's business, the former McGovern Electric Co., for many years.
Miss McGovern was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church.
She leaves a brother, Terrence J. McGovern of Pittsfield, and a sister, Agnes McGovern of Pittsfield.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Mary A. McGovern, age 92, died March 31, 2004. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Saturday at 9:30 at St. Joseph's Church, celebrated by the Rev. Michael Shershanovich, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 8 until the time of the funeral at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME.
In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Church or HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
