Mary Ellen Davis, 86, of Rose Manor Apartments died Thursday afternoon at home.
Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 13, 1918, daughter of Daniel J. and Mary McNiece Thornton, she was a 1938 graduate of St. Joseph's High School.
Mrs. Davis was employed as a kitchen worker for Canteen Vending for eight years, retiring in 1992.
Her husband, Edward E. Davis, whom she married in 1939, died in 1983.
She leaves six sons, James J. Davis, Leo R. Davis, John E. Davis, William A. Davis and Robert W. Davis, all of Pittsfield, and Richard C. Davis of Bradenton, Fla.; two daughters, Nancy Arms of Pittsfield and Kathleen Davis of Windsor; a brother, John Thornton of Pittsfield; 14 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Mary Ellen Thornton Davis, who died Thursday, June 16, will be private.
There will be no pubic calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
