HINSDALE, Mass. — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) will temporarily close Middlefield Road (SkylineTrail) in Hinsdale and Peru.

A temporary detour will be in place from Monday, May 8, to Friday, May 12, and motorists will be redirected to take Route 8 (South Street) to Route 143 to Creamery Road.

The closure and detour are needed to facilitate paving operations over the newly installed culverts as part of the project to reconstruct the Skyline Trail (Middlefield Road).

MassDOT is also conducting bridge repairs and guard rail repairs in the evening and overnight hours the week of May 8 on I-90 in Montgomery, Russsell, Becket, and Blandford.  Travel on I-90 will be maintained through the work zones.

The following work is scheduled:

In Montgomery and Russell, Sunday night through Friday morning, May 7 to May 12, bridge repairs will occur requiring lane closures on I-90 eastbound and westbound at mile marker 36.0.  Work starts each night at 7 p.m. and concludes the following day by 5 a.m.

In Becket, Monday night through Friday morning, May 8 to May 12, guardrail repairs will occur requiring lane closures on I-90 eastbound and westbound between mile markers 17 and 20.  Work starts each night at 7 p.m. and concludes the following day by 5 a.m.

In Lee, Monday and Tuesday nights, May 8 and May 9, bridge repairs will occur requiring lane closures at mile marker 8.3.  Work starts each night at 7 p.m. and concludes the following day by 5 a.m.

In Blandford and Becket, Monday and Tuesday nights, May 8 and May 9, guardrail repairs will occur requiring shoulder closures between mile markers 14.2 and 26.4.  Work starts each night at 8 p.m. and concludes the following day by 4 a.m.

Signs, traffic control devices, detours and law enforcement details will be used to guide drivers through or around the work zones.

MassDOT encourages drivers to reduce speed and use caution while approaching and traveling through or around the work zones and to allow for extra time through this area.

All work is weather dependent and is subject to change without notice.
